  PURPOSE

HOGP's mission is simple and yet addresses a profound issue that has serious social consequences. We are dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence in a holistic approach. This approach includes initial contact through the 24-hour hotline, to counseling, to providing shelter, and through relocation. Within these general categories of service there exists a wide range of needs that HOGP works to meet.

An integral part of our mission is to foster public awareness and prevention of domestic violence through education. We are reaching our to the community through various forums and programs. Foremost, we remain violence.

PROGRAMS

HOGP's shelter lies at the heart of the residential program. Women and children who are displaced due to incidents of domestic violence are provided safe, clean, housing, and necessities. The shelter is managed by trained staffs and volunteers who are also acting liaison to the organization's administrative office.

lndividual and group counseling is an essential service program undertaken by HOGP. The main emphasis is placed on counseling in response to physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Support groups offer less formal counseling on topics such as assertiveness, alcohol and drug awareness, parenting and independent skills. ln addition, legal, medical, financial, housing and career assistance is available either directly or by referral.

As part of the educational program, seminars and training sessions are held regularly for active and prospective volunteers. The public is invited even if for only informative reasons.

Speakers at these events are professionals or individuals in the respective relevant areas of service.

SERVICE

HOGP reaches our to the hurting women and children in the name of Jesus Christ. However, we are not a religious organization. We receive those who need assistance, whatever their racial ethnic or religious background. HOGP has a particular interest in educating the community in domestic violence because of cultural stereotypes which still pervades a large section of this population. Moreover, HOGP strives to eliminate harmful myths surrounding domestic violence.

The shelter borders the Orange and the Los Angeles counties. Callers and habitants are primarily from these two areas and across the country. lnformation on HOGP is distributed via print, news letters, radio and local television media. We have established networks with government, police department, district attorney's office, churches, other shelters and private agencies in availing ourselves to women and children in need.

ln conclusion, the founders of HOGP had a vision to impact the lives of the victims of domestic violence in a positive, holistic, way. They started small but had a great mission. Today, the same individuals are actively involved in the organization.
